What kind of help?

TRANSPORT: to appointments at the hospital in Grantham, Nottingham, Melton; doctors; opticians; hairdressers; dentists; or shopping in Melton, Grantham, Bingham or Newark.

For visits further afield we would suggest that you contact organisations such as Voluntary Action Leicestershire.

HOUSEHOLD TASKS: such as changing light bulbs; replacing batteries or moving small items of furniture.

COMPANIONSHIP: for folks who would like a chat and a cup of tea or maybe a game of Scrabble or cards.

SUPPORT: while recuperating from illness with things like gardening; taking the children to school; light housework; or caring for pets.

HELP: with writing letters or filling in non-legal forms; reading to people with visual impairment; learning to use email and the Internet.

WHO CAN USE THE SCHEME?
Anyone in the parish - the service is open to all who have no alternative person that may help them especially in times of need or those who are not mobile.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The only charge is for petrol and parking. There is no charge for transport within the parish. All other services are FREE. As this is a voluntary service and there are some incidental costs to running the service then donations would be appreciated and can be made through sealed envelopes.

IS IT SAFE?
All our volunteers have been checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (previously the Criminal Records Bureau and the Independent Safeguarding Authority), are fully insured and carry photographic identity at all times.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Just call 07849 311740. A coordinator will arrange for one of our registered volunteers to help. the coordinator will then phone you back to confirm who will call and at what time. the coordinator will be taking calls between 9am and 5pm each work day. Be prepared to leave a message, the phone or the coordinator may be busy.

WHAT IF I NEED OTHER HELP?
If you need some help which is not mentioned here, just give us a call as we may still be able to help.
